Simply put, we believe salespeople are not born, but rather they are created. The best salespeople have been educated in the fundamentals that allow for success.
The SearchDancing Elephants Achievement Group exists today because as Will Turner, Laura Posey and Tim Moore were moving into positions of sales and marketing management, they each encountered the need for high quality sales training – each of them was responsible for sourcing and bringing in sales trainers to keep their companies sales team sharp and increase sales.
What they encountered in their search for a high quality, ethical sales training resource was very disappointing. They were appalled at the number of trainers that insisted on trickery and gimmicks to increase sales, completely disregarding the change that the internet had brought to the culture of sales.
Sales EvolutionThe corporate changes that occurred in the late 1980’s and throughout the 1990’s brought about staff reductions and spending reductions that had an enormous effect on sales culture. Company sales training all but vanished. While companies spent more time and resources hiring the best students for entry level sales positions, they found that these new employees had very little sales education.
Soon, a culture of “anything goes” began to develop. Sales trainers promising quick results while teaching gimmicks, high pressure techniques and unethical practices permeated corporate America and even began to seep into the small businesses across the country. It seemed that marketers and salespeople had lost their moral compass. Sales people found themselves living with moral schizophrenia as they had one set of personal values at home and were expected to have different corporate ethics at work. It didn’t take long for the house of cards that this “anything goes” attitude brought to sales and corporate management to begin to show signs of a crumbling foundation.
The DecisionWill, Tim and Laura knew they could design and deliver a more effective, long lasting, life changing sales training curriculum than they could find available. They were determined to develop a sales methodology to complement today’s selling environment while maintaining a high standard of ethics that had been all but lost.
Will and Laura planned and began the creation of the idea of highly effective, ethical sales training; and, with the assistance of Tim, they leveraged over 60 years of combined real life sales, marketing, management and entrepenurial experience to create the methodology of selling for Dancing Elephants Achievement Group – Sales Magnetism.
Dancing Elephants is BornWill and Laura left their jobs in corporate America and opened Dancing Elephants Achievement Group in Richmond, VA in March of 2001. Utilizing the proven ideas from the Sales Magnetism curriculum, Will and Laura then co-authored the book entitled Six Secrets of Sales Magnets with the creative assistance of Tim’s barrage of “true to life” sales stories.
Realizing that Will and Laura were building a company that was making a difference in people’s lives, Tim was finally hooked and the office in the Triangle was opened by Tim in September of 2003.
The FocusThe original intent of Dancing Elephants was to deliver solid and ethical sales and marketing training to an underserved market of independent sales representatives and small business owners. The ideas presented in Sales Magnetism complemented this business demographic well and clients began to have resounding results.
With the original focus still in place, the success of the Dancing Elephants programs soon caught the ear of corporations. As a result, Dancing Elephants Achievement Group of the Carolinas has served and continues to serve the sales training needs of many local companies such as Sageworks, ManPower NC, sports radio 850 the Buzz and 620 the Bull, Cherokee Publishing / Smith and Associates and Women’s Edge Magazine, just to name a few.
The CandidatesPlease keep in mind…Dancing Elephants sales training is not for everyone. We educate ethical salespeople and develop vibrant sales cultures in companies that aspire to be ethical in every aspect of their business culture. The benefits of selling ethically means better fit clients, long term results, happy salespeople and lower customer service costs.
Now you see why we say…
Sell ethically and be happy.
